According to the China customs data, the average operating rate of secondary aluminium enterprises fell sharply by 51.1 per cent in November’22, and so did the imports of aluminium scrap. As per the data, China’s aluminium scrap imports declined by 14.8 per cent year-on-year and 16.08 per cent month-on-month to 126,000 tonnes in November. From January to November 2022, China imported 1.39 million tonnes of aluminium scrap, an increase of 59 per cent on the year. Africa’s primary aluminium production records a plunge of 14000 tonnes M-o-M in November 2022
Primary aluminium production in Africa stood at 127,000 tonnes during November 2022, reflecting a month-on-month plunge of 14,000 tonnes or 9.93 per cent, found the International Aluminium Institute. In October, the output amounted to 141,000 tonnes, up by 6,000 tonnes or 4.44 per cent from 135,000 tonnes a month ago. Brazil to impose tariffs on Chinese aluminium sheet products imports
According to a report on Thursday, December 22, Brazil has decided to impose countervailing duties on China’s aluminium sheet products, effective from March 31, 2023. The news came after China’s Ministry of Commerce announced it officially. The Ministry has also reported the duties will range between 14.88 per cent and 14.93 per cent, and will be implemented for the next five years. Hydro's aluminium recycling plant in Lucé has reportedly been issued DNV certification to produce Hydro CIRCAL. It is Hydro's first plant in France to produce Hydro CIRCAL, a low-carbon recycled aluminium product containing at least 75 per cent of post-consumer, end-of-life scrap. Chinese aluminium extrusion exports rebound to 82,200 tonnes in Nov’22 after continuous declines since mid-year
According to China customs data, Chinese aluminium extrusion exports amounted to 82,200 tonnes in November 2022, up by 8,100 tonnes or 10.9 per cent month-on-month but down by 6.7 per cent year-on-year. Gunagdong province accounted for 51.2 per cent of the total exports, followed by Shandong at 12 per cent, and Hunan at 3.9 per cent. In addition, the exports from Hunan increased considerably, but those from Anhui fell. The overall export market stood stable in November, with extrusion exports to Vietnam reaching 7,641 tonnes, taking up 9.3 per cent of the total exports.
