Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has certified Alu-Met GmbH against Performance Standard certification for remelting and casthouse operations at the Speedline Aluminium-Gießerei GmbH in Schlins, Austria. The facility uses an average of more than 70 per cent recycled aluminium feedstock to produce aluminium extrusion billets.
The news came after ASI announced today that it successfully certified the plant for responsible production, sourcing, and stewardship of aluminium. The plant has an annual production capacity of up to 96,000 tonnes of extrusion billets.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, said: “We congratulate Alu-Met on the ASI Performance Standard certification of their Speedline Aluminium-Gießerei facility. The company’s overall focus on recycled aluminium as an input to their extrusion billet production can help downstream customers reduce the carbon footprint of their products. In addition, the ASI Certification now demonstrates that the company’s focus on sustainability of their production processes is also firmly in place.”
“I am proud to see the entire team being fully committed to a sustainable production process led by continuous improvement in ecological efficiency as well as observing social responsibility and ensuring human rights on the entire value chain. We put in a lot of work through the years to achieve our goals and it has been paying off. Therefore, we are very happy that our good work gets recognition by receiving the ASI-Certificate. This will only inspire and motivate us even more to follow the path we have been on for a long time,” said Dr Frank Müller, General Manager at Alu-Met GmbH.
The independent, third-party audit of the Speedline Aluminium Gießerei GmbH facility was carried out by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH.
