
The COVID-19 outbreak has been the reason for serious political and socio-economic problems in many countries, including Armenia. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country, acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had an intense political struggle with representatives of former political elites who lost power as a result of the 2018 Velvet Revolution. While the chances of the ousted elite making a return to power were minimal, the COVID-19-induced socio-economic crisis has created a more conducive situation.

The former Russian Republic has recorded the import of aluminium foil during 2018-19 was 5156 tonnes and the expenditure accounted for the import remained at $18.24 million. The import for 2020 is marked to stand at 2248 tonnes and the expenditures to remain at $7.84 million. However, when the import volume and expenditure for 2020 gets assorted with the existing two years, it denotes 7404 tonnes and $26.08 million respectively.
Armenia’s import of aluminium foil in 2018 stood at 3088 tonnes and the expenditure remained at $11.30 million, whereas, the import for 2019 showed de-growth by 33.03%, as the import volume dropped to 2068 tonnes and expenditure stood at $6.94 million.
The import for 2020 reflected with growth by 8.70%, as the import volume rose to 2248 tonnes and the expenditure stands at $7.84 million.
Armenia’s major trading destinations for the importation of aluminium foil are China, Czech Rep., Greece, Greece, Iran, Italy, Russia, Poland, Serbia, Turkey, etc.
