AM Green Group has announced investments totalling INR 540 billion (USD 6 billion) in Andhra Pradesh, marking one of the largest green industrial commitments made during the 30th CII Partnership Summit on November 14. The company signed MoUs with the state government to develop two major projects — a one-million-tonne-per-annum green aluminium complex in Kakinada and a cluster of 2G biorefineries across North Andhra.

The aluminium complex, planned at INR 440 billion (USD 4.96 billion), will be built in two phases of 0.5 MTPA each. According to the company, the facility will run on 2 GW of round-the-clock renewable energy, making it the first operation of its kind globally at this scale. The project is expected to achieve an 80 per cent or more cut in carbon emissions, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a hub for low-carbon aluminium. State officials expect the complex to draw several downstream and ancillary units producing green industrial and consumer aluminium products.
The remaining INR 100 billion (USD 1.28 billion) will go toward setting up multiple 2G biorefineries across Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Anakapalli districts. These units will produce 2G ethanol and green hydrocarbons and supply feedstock for a 180 KTPA sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant. The SAF produced is estimated to be more than 75 per cent less carbon-intensive than conventional jet fuel.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said that Andhra Pradesh has a long track record in renewable energy, beginning with early wind and solar developments in the 2000s. He said the upcoming green aluminium complex would strengthen the state's position in future-ready industrial ecosystems.
AM Green highlighted that the new initiatives align with its broader decarbonisation portfolio, which includes pumped hydro storage assets in Kurnool and the ongoing development of a 100 GWh Intelligent Energy Cloud Platform. The group is also building a one-million-tonne-per-annum RFNBO-compliant green ammonia complex in Kakinada.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the biorefinery projects will enable a fully integrated pathway from agricultural feedstock to aviation-grade green fuels, putting North Andhra on the map for “global-to-flight” solutions.
