The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has reportedly certified Alvance Aluminium Dunkerque against the Chain of Custody certification for the production of aluminium rolling slabs and foundry ingots for remelting.
The aluminium slabs and ingots produced at the Dunkerque facility are destined for the use in transport, automotive, packaging, building and construction industries. The site has a production capacity of over 284,000 tonnes of aluminium products per annum.
In August 2020, the plant also achieved the Performance Standard Certification.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, said: “ASI warmly congratulates Aluminium Dunkerque on achieving Chain of Custody Standard Certification at its smelting and casting facility, the largest primary aluminium smelter in Europe. This facility’s production volume and dual ASI Certification enables customers in downstream aluminium use sectors to forge ahead with sourcing of certified materials that are produced according to the highest industry environmental, social and governance standards.”
“We are very proud to obtain the ASI Chain of Custody certification. This recognition rewards the efforts made by the Aluminium Dunkerque teams to comply with the highest standards in terms of governance in the aluminium industry. This is an important milestone in our approach to developing a low-carbon aluminium that will mainly benefit our customers and our community,” said Amélie Hennion, Managing Director of Alvance Aluminium Dunkerque.
The independent, third-party audit of Aluminium Dunkerque was carried out by GUTcert (AFNOR Group).
