The Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organization, Alupro-organized Every Can Counts programme has once again come forward to support a cause, which has values similar to its own. The programme has partnered with the female UK-based Trek-Drops professional women’s cycling team for the ongoing 2018 session.
Support for the women cyclers has also come from other industry bodies like European Aluminium and Metals Packaging Europe (MPE).

Every Can Counts will now be seen as supporting Team Trek-Drops when they hit the tracks in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and France.
Trek-Drops team director Tom Varney said, “We’re delighted to continue our partnership with Alupro and welcome the increased support from both the MPE (Metal Packaging Europe) and European Aluminium.
“The riders and staff will be helping to encourage cyclists across Europe to do their bit to protect our environment by recycling their drinks cans – making every can count!
Every Can Counts was launched in 2009 in the UK to target approximately 30% of aluminium beverage cans used outside the home. From aluminium can recycling in workplace, the focus of the programme was later expanded to encompass every aluminium drink can used by people on the go.
While commenting on the programme’s latest cooperation, Rick Hindley, executive director of the Every Can Counts said, “Aluminium and steel drinks cans are purchased by millions of people every day, including at sporting events. Recycling one tonne of aluminium saves nine tonnes of CO2 emissions – and one tonne is the equivalent to a car driving 2800 miles. Just imagine how much CO2 we would be reducing if we all cycled and recycled.”
