
North America’s primary aluminium production stood at 308,000 tonnes in February 2021, marking an increase of 1.91% year-on-year, according to the latest data showed by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). On a monthly basis, the output dropped by 9.4% from January’s output of 340,000 tonnes.

The aluminium output came in at 648,000 tonnes in the first two months of 2021, from 644,000 tonnes in the first two months of 2020. This marked an increase of 0.62% year-on-year.
In South America, primary aluminium production in February stood 4.44% lower year-on-year. The output was 86,000 tonnes. On a month-on-month comparison, aluminium production decreased by 9.47% from 95,000 tonnes in January.
Primary aluminium production declined from 188,000 tonnes in January-February 2021 to 181,000 tonnes in January-February 2021. That registered a drop of 3.72% year-on-year.
