Aluminium industry on track to meet demand from high speed rail growth

3MINS READ
Aluminium China 2015 to showcase innovative new technology, products and processes for the rail transport industry – and much more

With the rapid development of high-speed rail transport in China and other parts of the world diving demand for aluminium, next month’s Aluminium China 2015 will provide a shop window on the world’s leading companies, products and processes across the complete aluminium supply chain.

China already has over 10 thousand miles of high-speed rail line with 12 thousand still under construction, while in October 2014 a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with Russia to develop a Eurasian Moscow-Beijing high-speed transport corridor. With low density and high strength along with excellent plasticity and corrosion resistance, aluminium alloys are ideal for the lightweight and robust design of high-speed rail carriages. Aluminium alloy cable is also increasingly being used as a substitute for traditional copper-core cable.

Among the speakers at Aluminium China will be Liu Haipeng, Deputy Head Designer at the Qiqihar Railway Rolling Stock (Group) Co, presenting the ‘Status and development of aluminium and aluminium components’ application in Chinese rail freight vehicles’.

“The railways helped to drive the first industrial revolution and now the race is on to build the next generation of high speed rail links on a massive scale,” said Chris Zang, Senior Project Manager of Reed Exhibitions China, organisers of Aluminium China 2015 “The aluminium industry is innovating and adapting to meet these challenges and Aluminium China 2015 will provide an international showcase for new production and manufacturing processes as well as leading-edge technology and product design in the rail and other transport markets.”

The 11th Aluminium China exhibition and conference in Shanghai runs from 8-10 July 2015 and looks like being the biggest event yet. Over 17,000 professionals are expected to attend along with more than 550 international exhibitors from 30 countries, representing the entire aluminium production chain, from raw materials, semi-finished and finished products to production and processing machinery and accessories. The conference and exhibition will be focused around five core themes:

1. The revolutionary impact of new energy vehicles on auto components
2. Energy-saving building and building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV)
3. Aluminium Engineer Club Technical Forum - lean management in aluminum enterprises
4. Aluminium downstream processing
5. Alumina and Primary Aluminium Sustainable Development Forum

Innovation will feature strongly at this year’s conference, ranging from new technologies and approaches for primary aluminium solid waste treatment, to the latest in 3D printing. Hanson Deng from 3D SYSTEMS will present the latest world-leading, all-round display 3D printing technology for the aluminium industry.

A special Business Matching Service will also connect top buyers, agents and distributors with exhibitors. Over 700 Targeted Attendee Program (TAP) Diamond VIPs will be able to schedule on-site appointments with the most relevant exhibitors to get the most out of their time at the show. No other channel provides such high level access to senior decision makers across Asia, the largest and fastest growing aluminium market in the world.
