ALUMINIUM CHINA 2013 Global line-up celebrates record attendance

4MINS READ
On July 2, ALUMINIUM CHINA, Asia’s leading international aluminium exhibition, opened its gates to a record breaking number of visitors from around the globe at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. With an unparalleled line up of top brands, influencers and decision makers from 73 countries that represent the entire aluminium industry chain, ALUMINIUM CHINA 2013 became the strongest edition of the show to date, registering double digit growth across multiple metrics.

Introducing a dynamic showcase of over 1,000 exhibits on-site this year, displayed by 462 exhibitors from China, Asia and further abroad, the exhibition attracted 15,274 unique visitors, an increase of 28% over last year. This significant increase clearly reflects the rich potential of Asia’s aluminium markets today driven by a large number of exhibiting industry giants at the show like Conglin, Kobe Steel, Shanghai Jieru, Taiyuan Heavy Industry, Novelis, Wagstaff, Qatalum and SMS Group.

Hosting over 460 major manufacturers including 121 new exhibitors, ALUMINIUM CHINA 2013 covered a massive show floor across three halls, Hall W1 premium brands; Hall W2, raw materials/semi-finished products and Hall W3: machinery and accessories. This fresh zoning layout, in combination with dynamic sourcing activities, integrated factory tours and buyer-seller match-making sessions, were part of Reed’s “Source smart” initiative. “Source smart” is a novel approach introduced to celebrate innovation and stimulate cross-border trade that leverages the vast demand in China’s growing application industries.

From show content, there’s no doubt that China has entered the exciting next phase of modern aluminium production with new, energy efficient low-carbon furnaces. Furthermore its processing companies have placed themselves in prime position to satisfy global markets with the next generation of advanced semi-finished and finished materials for numerous application sectors. The country has also become a major supplier of high-quality lightweight body parts for the transportation industry, as well as fenestration parts with improved insulation properties. ALUMINIUM CHINA 2013 welcomed CEOs from major companies and association leaders from various booming application sectors to explore new product trends in aluminium rolling and extrusion: the dominant sectors on the show floor. Moreover the ninth presentation of the exhibition introduced more leading international partners and experts, among them top representatives from the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, the International Aluminium Institute, the Gulf Aluminium Council, the European Aluminium Foil Association (EFA) and a long line up of corporate leaders.

ALUMINIUM CHINA 2013 also presented the latest advances in Asian aluminium in two new dynamic feature areas: downstream processed semi-finished products for transportation and other key industries; packaging products supported by the EFA’s Foil Award. Alongside the new feature areas, the show also launched the Aluminium Downstream Processing Forum, where the audience gained sharp insights into the latest developments across closely related application sectors. The EFA’s display zone was also combined with a forum on future opportunities for aluminium· packaging applications in China.

This year, ALUMINIUM CHINA was again collocated with COPPER CHINA and MAGNESIUM China. The three-events-in-one combination amplified business opportunities for participants. Furthermore, the exhibitions were supplemented by a powerful conference program with more than 20 seminars, workshops and networking sessions that included the Automotive Light Weight Forum, led by top experts from automotive aluminium companies; the launch of the Aluminium Engineer Club - Technical Workshop and the Fenestration & Aluminium Extruders Networking Cocktail Reception.

Speaking at the event, Josephine Lee, Senior Vice President of Reed Exhibitions Greater China, said, “By hosting the global giants in the aluminium industry, across a record exhibition area, ALUMINIUM CHINA 2013 garnered attention and praise from leading players in the trade. The great blend of exhibition, networking and on-site events, by professionals from within China, and from 31 countries across the globe, really gave participants tremendous value. 2013 looks set to become yet another promising year for China and the aluminium community. Reed Exhibitions is proud to be able to support growth through this industry defining event.”
