
South America’s alumina production stood at 1.019 million tonnes in June 2021, with a year-on-year increase of 4.19%, according to the latest data showed by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI).The output was 978,000 tonnes in June 2020. On a month-on-month basis, the alumina production reduced by 8% from May’s production of 1.108 million tonnes.

In the first half of 2021, alumina production in South America came in at 6.347 million tonnes as against as 6.087 million tonnes in the first half of 2020.That was up by 4.27% year-on-year.
North America’s alumina production registered 225,000 tonnes in June 2021. That was slightly up from June’s 2020 output of 223,000 tonnes and 3.21% from May 2021’s output of 218,000 tonnes. In January-June 2021, alumina output totalled 1.283 million tonnes, from 1.319 million tonnes in January-June 2020, marking a decrease of 2.73% year-on-year.
