Aluar will be investing US$130 million in its eponymous wind farm near Puerto Madryn to erect 18 4.5MW turbines. The fourth stage expansion, which is scheduled to start operating in December 2023, will boost the plant's capacity by 81 megawatts to 246 megawatts.

The energy produced will be used to power Aluar's principal aluminium factory in Puerto Madryn, "anticipating and exceeding the requirement of the national regime to promote the use of renewable sources," said Aluar chairman Alberto Martinez Costa.
