In a significant move to elevate the technical acumen of Bahrain's youth, Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) has generously donated a robotic unit to the Nasser Vocational Training Center (NVTC). This initiative aligns with the Center's mission to offer students immersive, practical experiences in robotic operations.
{alcircleadd}On May 20, 2024, a ceremonial handover took place, witnessing the presence of Alba’s CEO, Ali Al Baqali, and the CEO of NVTC, Dr. Abdulla bin Naser Al Noaimi, alongside senior officials from both organisations. This event marked a collaborative milestone aimed at enriching the educational landscape with advanced technological tools.
From industry to education
The donated robotic unit previously served at Alba’s Casthouse 2, efficiently stacking finished product bundles for over a decade before being replaced by a more advanced model. This transition of technology from industry to academia symbolises Alba's commitment to sustainability and resource optimisation.
“We are pleased to support NVTC's journey in robotics by equipping students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in robot design, programming, and operation. This initiative reflects not only our commitment to serving the Bahraini community but also our dedication to This initiative reflects not only our commitment to serving the Bahraini community but also our dedication to cultivating a culture of training and sharing practical knowledge,” exemplified Alba’s CEO Ali Al Baqali, while talking about the affair.
Enhancing practical training
“We are proud to partner with Alba, one of the largest aluminium smelters in the world. This collaboration extends beyond regular contributions and encompasses various projects. Our Center’s R&D arm plays a key role by providing Alba with innovative smart technology solutions, when in turn, Alba demonstrates its commitment to the Center's vision and mission. Their support empowers Bahraini youth by equipping them with industrial skills through practical training and curricula aligned with actual units used by Alba,” NVTC CEO Dr Abdulla Naser Al Noaimi stated.
NVTC’s engineering students will now benefit from this sophisticated equipment, which will be integral to their robotics program. This hands-on experience is designed to equip students with the necessary skills for thriving careers in the dynamic field of robotics, fostering a new generation of technically proficient professionals.
