Airbus has recognised Alerts, a leading aluminium rolled product manufacturer with the accredited supplier award for the second year in a row. Airbus honoured its supplier during its Supply Chain and Quality Improvement Program (SQIP) event at Toulouse, France. Aleris fulfilled the maximum requirements for excellence as a supplier.
"We are proud to have achieved the status of Accredited Supplier for 2018, the highest supplier distinction, for the second time," says Dr. Ingo Kröpfl, Aleris vice president Global Aerospace.
{alcircleadd}He added that the award encouraged them to work harder to maintain this level of performance in future. Aleris won the Best Performer Award in 2015 and 2016 and followed that with Accredited Supplier Award in 2017 and 2018.
Aleris manufactures plates, sheets and cut from certified and specialized aluminium alloys. Those are used for making aircraft parts for Airbus. The successful ramp-up of Aleris' manufacturing plant in Zhenjiang, China was also recognized by the award. . Aleris Aluminum Zhenjiang produces aluminium alloy plates, aluminium alloy strips and aluminium alloy profiles and markets its products primarily in China.
Airbus works with more than 12,000 suppliers worldwide to cater to its global aircraft manufacturing business. Their SQIP program was introduced in 2012 to recognize their supply chain for excellence. Aleris, which has been proposed to be acquired by Novelis in 2018, supplies its rolled aluminium products to diverse industries including aerospace, automotive, building and construction, commercial transportation and industrial manufacturing.
