The International Organisation of Aluminium Aerosol Container Manufacturer (AEROBAL) has announced the winners of the recently held state-of-the-art aluminium aerosol cans competition.

The award was presented by a panel of nine journalists from industry magazines to the cans that were new and creative in terms of sustainability, marketing, design, and printing.
The first position under the “Sustainability” category was awarded to the aluminium can from Cien Deo, which is produced by Tubex, a German can manufacturer and the winner is being described as, “the first aluminium aerosol can printed with an eco-friendly and sustainable printing ink.”
According to AEROBAL, the ink used on the container of the sleek deodorant is GMOs free, as well as soybean or coconut oils, minerals, palm and all the other binders are used from renewable sources.

Not only this, the can is partially made up of certified PCR material and a patented alloy which makes the can 6% lighter than its previous version. Due to the water-based coating lacquer, the can is made up using 60% fewer solvents.
According to Gregor Spengler the Secretary-General at AEROBAL, “The issue of sustainability continues to play the central role in the aluminium aerosol can industry and, of course, in the packaging in general”.
He also stated, “It’s remarkable and satisfying to see that even in times of crisis, the efforts and investments of our member companies have not diminished at all when it comes to sustainable concepts. Looking at this year’s competition, it rather seems to be the case that our industry is once again stepping up its efforts to create eco-friendly and environmentally compatible packaging solutions.”
The winners from other categories also designed their cans keeping in mind the importance of sustainability. Under the category of aluminium aerosol cans already present in the market, the oil spray cans produced by Trivium Packaging Argentina for Cocinero Fritolim Oliva and Clasico attracted attention. These products are made up of recyclable aluminium cans and are designed keeping in mind health-conscious customers who keep a tab on the amount of oil they consume.
According to AEROBAL, the brand finally managed to solve any technical challenges related to the shape of their cans and the design made on them. The present shape and design on their cans don’t distort the “iconic” smiling chef who is known to give the products the unique look. The bright colours on the cans make them different and stand out among the customers.
Under the “Prototype” category there were two winners. The name of the two winning can was “Save the Earth,” and the other one was, “The Matrix.” The CCL Container manufacturers partnered with Sun Chemical to come up with an ultra-modern looking product that features a matt background with glossy designs. The spot vanish ink technology helped CCL to achieve the desired look. Not only this, the spot vanish ink is a unique way to design cans created from aluminium by using an additive in place of the varnish.
