Hindalco’s Aditya Aluminium is reportedly conducting vocation trainings through its CSR project “Swabalmb” in Sambalpur’s Lapanga village to help people become self-reliant. The end objective is to make them employable. The project rolled out in October 2020 and until now, over 270 youngsters have been trained in Ophthalmologist Paramedical services, tailoring, beautician, motor binding, driving etc.
Among the trainees, two beneficiaries worth noted here are Sevati (19) & Rajashree (18) of Lapanga village. They were trained in ophthalmologist paramedical services at Trilochan Netralaya and today they earn INR 10,000 every month. Their families now live a life of dignity.
Lauding the initiative, Mr Subrat Roy, the Director of SBI Regional Self Employment Training Institute says, “This is a praiseworthy initiative on the part of Aditya Aluminium to come forward to partner with us in imparting training and counselling the rural youth in making them self-sufficient.”
Mr Kailash Pandey, Unit Head of Aditya Aluminium who fully backs the project, says, “This project is crucial to develop confidence amongst the youth through according them training in different skill building domains and enabling them to earn and look after themselves and their families. Partnering with the Govt. is aboon.We are much encouraged by our iconic Chairperson, Mrs. Rajashree Birla, Chairperson, Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, who believes that we must Engage, Uplift and Empower our women.”
Aditya Birla Group operates in 212 villages of six districts of Odisha reaching out to more than 5 lakh people and touching around 2,15000 lives annually through its CSR activities in the area of health, education, infrastructure development, sustainable livelihood, and women empowerment.
