Australia’s leading independent architectural aluminium finisher, Australian Aluminium Finishing (AAF), has announced a major upgrade to its aluminium finishing operations. Following the introduction of the latest powder coating technology, the company is now focused on expanding its decorative finish ranges, which are more sustainable for architectural and industrial applications.

Latest powder coating technology promises premium finishes
AAF has reportedly made a major investment in modernising its powder coating application systems with top-notch equipment to deliver premium-quality aluminium finishes. The upgrades feature high-density powder flow technology, which is typically reserved for vertical lines. Leveraging the same, AAF has adapted it to align with its flexible horizontal lines. This enables the company to coat extrusions of varying sizes and profiles with exceptional precision.
Each plant now operates with the exclusive ATE Pure Powder Flow System around the spray booth areas. This system contains electromagnetic fields to support the latest Gema electrostatic guns, ensuring an even, high-penetration finish. It produces a more consistent and seamless finish that delivers longevity to the product while ensuring its premium appearance.

New Evergrain® woodgrain finishes combine beauty and durability
The introduction of Evergrain® woodgrain powder-on-powder technology is certainly a bold leap towards expanding its finishing capabilities. Moreover, the newly installed equipment in Melbourne and Sydney has extended the company’s capability to produce realistic woodgrain textures with remarkable tactile quality and resistance.
Unlike traditional sublimation or ink-penetration techniques, the Evergrain® method is a pure powder coating process, offering far greater durability. Developed in partnership with DULUX, it uses premium-level architectural powders backed by warranties of up to 25 years. This technology provides a sustainable and long-lasting alternative for both interior and exterior aluminium applications.

New Terra Rossa finishes bring depth to AAF’s anodising portfolio
In addition, AAF has expanded its Evershield® High-Grade Anodising range with the new Terra Rossa collection, which includes eight copper-toned finishes inspired by Australia’s iconic Red Earth landscapes. These finishes deliver architectural appeal alongside the resilience of anodised aluminium.
Simultaneously, AAF’s Illustro series of metallic lustres continues to gain popularity. The new colouring systems not only provide high-precision consistency across projects, but also come with pre-testing and spectrometer measurements for accurate facade matching.
