A00 aluminium ingot price soars by RMB230/t to close the week at RMB16960/t; Alumina spot price grows marginally

A00 aluminium ingot price has soared by RMB 230 per tonne to stand at RMB 16,960 per tonne on Friday, December 18, according to the Shanghai Metals Market. The continuous rise in domestic primary aluminium demand amid limited stocks at warehouses has contributed to the third consecutive day of A00 aluminium ingot price growth. The average prices today are expected to range between RMB 16,940 per tonne and RMB 16,980 per tonne, with the spot contract to be traded at a premium price of RMB 230-270 per tonne, down by RMB 20 per tonne from December 17.

In Chongqing, primary aluminium ingot price has recorded the highest growth of RMB 235 per tonne to stand at RMB 16,950 per tonne, followed by an increase of RMB 225 per tonne in Shenyang to RMB 16,915 per tonne. In Foshan and Hangzhou, A00 aluminium ingot price has surged by RMB 220 per tonne to RMB 17,070 per tonne and RMB 16,970 per tonne, while that in Gongyi and Wuxi has hiked by RMB 210 per tonne to RMB 16,740 per tonne and RMB 16,960 per tonne, respectively. In Tianjin and Linyi, the ingot price has grown by RMB 200 per tonne to RMB 16,910 per tonne and RMB 16,890 per tonne.

Alumina, the key raw material of primary aluminium, has recorded an increase of RMB 1 per tonne to RMB 2,319 per tonne in the spot Chinese market on December 18, found SMM. In Shandong, Guizhou, and Guangxi, the alumina price has climbed by RMB 5 per tonne to hover at RMB 2,300 per tonne, RMB 2,270 per tonne, and RMB 2,265 per tonne, respectively, while in Henan and Shanxi, the price has remained muted at RMB 2,330 per tonne.

Backed on the surge in A00 aluminium ingot price, the price of aluminium alloy (A356) has jumped by RMB 250 per tonne to come in at RMB 17,650 per tonne. The average prices are expected to range between RMB 17,600 per tonne and RMB 17,700 per tonne.

Aluminium alloys (ADC12) price and aluminium alloy (A380) price have increased by RMB 50 per tonne to RMB 17,450 per tonne and RMB 18,350 per tonne, respectively.
