A&W Iron and Metal to celebrate earth week by recycling aluminium cans

EDITED BY : 1MINS READ

A&W Iron and Metal will be commemorating Earth Week for the 25th consecutive year from Monday, April 17 through Saturday, April 22, for which the neighbours in neighbours in Allenton, Slinger, Kewaskum, West Bend, and the rest of Washington County are being invited to drop off the collected aluminium cans throughout the year.

“We’ll get a couple people that turn in over 1,000 pounds. They’re pickers and crush their cans and put them in heavy-duty plastic bags. They make good money and it’ll take them several days to bring in their collection,” said Lana Alexandra, co-owner of A&W Iron and Metal.

Many of the locals have set aside money for this occasion. A&W Iron and Metal offers complimentary t-shirts to anyone who brings in 100 pounds or more of aluminium cans as an added incentive to participate. Suckers, pencils, can covers, chip clips, and other freebies are also available.

The amount paid per pound of aluminium will be made public in the upcoming weeks. A&W Iron and Metal, which employs 80 people, gives back to the community by supporting Slinger Speedway and local youth baseball and soccer teams.
