Detail

CitiUS delivers end-to-end aluminium foundry and heat treatment solutions, from custom furnace design to supply, construction and in-house commissioning. With decades of expertise, the firm has combined high-efficiency, low-energy systems with European-quality components, serving diverse industries including aerospace, automotive, defence and hard-alloy production.

In an interview for “ALUEXPO 2025 & Beyond”, CitiUS shared its approach to energy-efficient, automated and sustainable furnace solutions, sourcing strategies, bespoke applications and their ability to accelerate project timelines. It also highlights emerging market trends, client demands for electrification and how CitiUS positions itself to meet growing aluminium foundry and heat treatment needs globally.

AL Circle: Furnaces for extrusion or forging can be energy intensive. Compared to industry benchmarks, by what percentage have your modern furnaces reduced energy consumption or improved throughput for clients?

CitiUS: Since markets are so tight at the moment and high competition in the market and high demands from the customers (high quality, efficiency, sustainability, low carbon promises, recyclability, etc.), customers are demanding furnaces with low energy usage with very high efficiency. So, our target is always to get the energy usage as close as the theoretical values. Now we are serving with our reheating furnaces for the forging industry as well as solution heat treatment lines. Especially, we are supplying aging ovens, die heating ovens and the billet heating furnaces with 20-30 per cent less energy usage.

AL Circle: As sustainability regulations tighten, especially in the EU, how are foundries adjusting procurement priorities? Have you witnessed renewed demand for electric over gasfired furnaces, and how have your designs evolved to meet carbon reduction goals?

CitiUS: At the moment most of the bigger-sized companies are promising to their customers zero carbon emissions with a target date not just because of regulations but requests from their customers. In order to reach these targets now most of our customers are asking electrically heated furnaces also. We have had solutions for the electrical furnace for almost 30 years (personal experience) and we are supplying them in a very efficient way.

AL Circle: CitiUS delivers custom process furnaces tailored to niche applications. What emerging sectors are driving bespoke demand, and what trends are you seeing in materials or process requirements?

CitiUS: Especially in the defence industry, hard alloy production is increasing and we are having lots of inquiries. So, in the very near future, we will start to supply complete casthouse solutions for hard alloys. Since also in the very near future, high bay storage systems will be used more and more, we had our first application in Türkiye for Extrusion Basket and Packages.

AL Circle: Where is demand for aluminium foundry and heat treatment solutions headed in the next 5–7 years? Are we looking at increased demand from automotive, aerospace, green energy, or recyclers? How is CitiUS positioned to capture that demand?

CitiUS: Now we have around 50 young and talented crew, and we have been supplying furnaces up to 70% to the existing customers. Demand is always increasing for aluminium products. So, in order to serve our existing and new customers, we are increasing our quality & quantity
