Guinea Alumina Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Emirates Global Aluminium and is currently developing a bauxite mine and associated export facilities in the Republic of Guinea in the first phase of its investment in the country. Our project is one of the largest greenfield investments in Guinea in 40 years and is contributing considerably to the country by creating employment, economic opportunities and revenue for the Government. We also make contributions to society beyond our core business. Once steady-state operations are reached, bauxite production is expected to be approximately 12 million tonnes per year. Bauxite is the ore from which aluminium is derived. Guinea has more than 7 billion tonnes of bauxite resources, which is over a quarter of the world's total. Much of Guinea's bauxite is amongst the highest quality worldwide.
