UCCI organised Workshop on Metal and Downstream Industries

The Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ltd (UCCIL), Bhubaneswar in association with Business Standard conducted an workshop on “Metal and Downstream Industries” focusing on Aluminium, its Downstream and Ancillary, here on Tuesday. The programme of the evening was steered by Dr Prabodh Mohanty, President, UCCIL.

The Inaugural Address was presented by Dr. Prabodh Mohanty, President, UCCIL who expressed his gratitude towards all the dignitaries of the evening who had come down to UCCIL this evening for a value adding session for the industrial fraternity of UCCIL. J K Rath, Vice President (Industry), UCCIL, gave the welcome address.

President’s inaugural speech was followed by the first session starting with the address of Shashi Bhushan Upadhyay, Chief Business Officer, JSL, who summed up how JSL has been working for the upliftment of the MSME by inducting them more and more into its downstream and ancillary.

S.P Mohapatra, GM, R&D, NALCO, highlighted that they have been trying to set up Aluminium Park in Odisha as well which would dedicate most of its utility for MSME as their downstream and ancillary.

Vineet Mahajan, Head Domestic Marketing, Vedanta, harped on their focus on producing low cost and low carbon emission steel and Aluminium in their factories in Odisha. He agreed that as on date their company is sending most of its product to other states like Gujarat and to down South states, but indicated that the returns and profits are being utilised for MSME in Odisha.

Bibhu Mishra, Advisor, HINDALCO said that their company was taking care of more and more of the local MSME in their downstream and ancillary areas by intensifying their CSR and academic training projects in Odisha. There are a lot of scope for the growth of MSMEs and the risks levels of the MSMEs have been reduced to many extent, adds Mr Mishra.

The second session was the technical session that was moderated by Er. Gyana Ranjan Mohanty, Advisor UCCIL and Chairman, MSME & Defense Committee, UCCIL. In the technical session the mega Aluminium Industries of Odisha presented an array of their products and visions worked out within Odisha.

Pravin Pandey, Vice President and Head Strategic Projects and Aluminium Downstream, HINDALCO did his presentation and pinpoint identified investment opportunities for the MSME entrepreneurs. . He presented and recommended a focused approached towards selected segments for entrepreneurs to invest which are growing and scalable market spaces in India. The proliferation of Aluminium will drive a positive social-economic impact, creating jobs and promoting greener and smarter world Pandey said.
