India’s PG Foils and Bahrain join hands to build high-value aluminium foil plant
India-based PG Foils Limited plans to establish a downstream aluminium manufacturing facility in Bahrain, focusing on electric vehicle (EV) battery foil and pharmaceutical foil production. The proposed investment is expected to expand the kingdom’s aluminium downstream capabilities and strengthen its manufacturing base. Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce signed a letter of intent with PG Foils for the project. The agreement was signed by Industry and Commerce Minister Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro and PG Foils Joint Managing Director Sahil Shah during the fourth edition of the Gateway Gulf expo, which opened on November 1 in Manama. US President Donald Trump’s aluminium tariffs have become a point of contention in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District race, with Democratic candidate Tom Perriello arguing that higher metal prices are increasing costs for local breweries and beer consumers. Perriello and former Republican Congressman Denver Riggleman raised the issue during an event at the Water Dog in Lynchburg, where they met local brewers and customers to discuss the impact of tariffs on the brewing industry. LME aluminium cash bid rises $43 as alumina prices gain 2.46%
LME aluminium prices advanced on October 30 , with cash and futures contracts recording gains. The Asian Reference Price edged lower, while exchange opening stocks and cancelled warrants declined. Alumina Platts prices posted a stronger increase. Both the cash bid and cash offer rose 1.40 per cent, to USD 3,113.50 and USD 3,114 per tonne, respectively, from USD 3,070.50 and USD 3,071 per tonne. Three-month aluminium prices also moved higher. The bid climbed 0.52 per cent to USD 3,078 per tonne from USD 3,062 per tonne. The offer price also advanced 0.52 per cent to USD 3,080 per tonne from USD 3,064 per tonne. Trimet has reduced direct carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions at its aluminium recycling plant in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, by 25 per cent, saving approximately 4,000 tonnes annually through a transition to hydrogen-rich coke oven gas.
