In a regulatory filing, the company said it produced the highest-ever amount of aluminium at 2.291 million tonnes in FY23, compared with 2.268 million tonnes in the earlier financial year. That reflected a year-on-year increase of 1.01 per cent, attributed to Jharsuguda ramp-up.

In the fourth quarter of FY23, Vedanta’s aluminium production amounted to 574,000 tonnes, also up by 1 per cent from 566,000 tonnes in the third quarter. But compared to the same period of the previous year, Vedanta posted a subdued performance as the aluminium output in Q4 FY2022 was at 572,000 tonnes.

Meanwhile, Vedanta revealed a drop in alumina output at its Lanjigarh refinery during Q4 FY23 by 7 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 18 per cent year-on-year to 411,000 tonnes. In the entire year, Vedanta’s alumina output dwindled by 9 per cent Y-o-Y due to planned shutdown and maintenance activities at calciners.

Vedanta Aluminium is a leader in making value-added products that find critical applications in core industries. The company ranks 2nd in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) 2022 world rankings for aluminium industry, reflecting its sustainable development practices.

Vedanta also reported in the FY2023 production results that its refined metal output rose 7 per cent to 1.032 million tonnes, representing a historic high.
