
According to the latest data shared by the US Geological Survey, the United States aluminium plates, sheets and bars imports rebounded to 74,500 tonnes in June 2020. In May, the country imported 68,500 tonnes, declining by 6,000 tonnes from April. The US imports in June saw an increase of 8.76 per cent month-on-month since the last hike in April from 23,300 tonnes in March to 74,500 tonnes.

On a year-on-year basis, the US aluminium plates, sheets and bars imports in June 2020 shrank by 43.13 per cent from 131,000 tonnes.
The United States aluminium semi-finished products imports in the first half of 2020 totalled 488,000 tonnes, down from 808,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
In the second quarter, the United States aluminium plates, sheets and bars imports stood at 217,500 tonnes compared to 73,800 tonnes in Q1. This means the imports in Q2 2020 grew by 194.72 per cent quarter-on-quarter from Q1 2020.
On the export side, the United States exported 49,800 tonnes of aluminium plates, sheets and bars in June 2020, up by 24.82 per cent from 39,900 tonnes in May. But the total exports in the first half of the year decreased from 448,000 tonnes in H1 2019 to 345,000 tonnes.
