
The United States imported 3,510 tonnes of US aluminium plates, sheets, and bars from South Africa in September 2021, showing a month-on-month drop of 3,780 tonnes or by 51.85 percent, finds the US Geological Survey (USGS). In August 2021, 7,290 tonnes of US aluminium plates, sheets, and bars were imported from South Africa, showing a hike of 6,270 tonnes from 1,020 tonnes in July 2021.

On a year-on-year calculation, US aluminium plates, sheets, and bars imported from South Africa in September 2021 plunged by 1,630 tonnes or by 31.71 percent from 5,140 tonnes.
From January to September, the imported aluminium plates, sheets, and bars from South Africa totalled at 26,200 tonnes. For the same period last year, the amount was recorded at 25,500 tonnes.
According to the data shared by the United States Geological Survey, the total amount of aluminium plates, sheets, bars, crude metals and alloys, and scrap, imported from South Africa for September 2021 came in at 4,020 tonnes, showing a year-on-year decrease of 1,120 tonnes. The total amount recorded for September 2020 settled at 5,140 tonnes.
