Single-use plastic bottles often end up in landfills, contaminating the environment. Thirst Trap, an Australian-based canned water brand, is poised to revolutionize the traditional bottled water concept with plastic-free, aluminium cans of 100 per cent regionally sourced spring water.
This groundbreaking collaboration between the renowned H2coco, a significant leader in the coconut water market, and the creative firm Example altered the way people previously viewed water bottles. Considering the harmful effects of improper plastic dumping, Thirst Trap developed aluminium cans that can be recycled forever, decreasing hazardous impacts and encouraging Australians to be more environmentally conscious.
Co-founders David Freeman of H2coco and Andy El-Bayeh of Example saw a disconnect between Australia's billion-dollar bottled water sector, which relies heavily on traditional plastic bottles, and customers' rising desire for eco-friendly options. Thirst Trap arose to answer this need, providing water packaged in infinitely recyclable aluminium containers Australians can proudly use daily.
Mr Freeman said: "We know a younger generation of Australians are thirsty for change, and we're here to deliver that with a viable alternative: water packaged in endlessly recyclable aluminium that Aussies feel proud to drink when they're out and about. We're not afraid to do things differently, to be bold, to push boundaries, and to challenge the status quo where outdated ideologies still sadly rule."
Mr El-Bayeh further added: "Thirst Trap is not a flash in the aluminium can; it's a movement – a call to each Australian to re-evaluate their daily choices for the sake of our shared environment. We are in talks for future collaborations with brands and non-profits that echo our ethos. A line expansion is also already on the horizon, slated for late 2024, including flavoured and sparkling options that align with our core values. We want Thirst Trap to be a lifestyle choice so we're talking to those who not only want the best but also want their choices to mean something more."
Thirst Trap is proudly Australian, packaging 100 per cent pure mountain spring water from Kinglake, Victoria, in 100 per cent aluminium 500ml cans. The bottling facility's proximity to the spring provides purity and a low carbon footprint. Thirst Trap is initiating a social media movement to mark its launch, urging Australians to share their "PG thirst traps for good." For each thirst trap posted on Instagram and tagged with @SlayThirstTrap and #ThirstTrapsForGood between October 18 and November 1, Thirst Trap will donate $1. The proceeds will support the Ocean Crusaders crew, known for their efforts in cleaning over 275 tonnes of waste from South-East Queensland waters after the 2022 Brisbane floods.
In November, these funds will facilitate clean-up activities in various locations in Victoria and New South Wales, including Moonee Ponds Creek, the Georges River, and the Cook River. Thirst Trap's 100 per cent Australian Spring Water is available nationally at Woolworths stores, and it can also be found at Ampol petrol stations in the form of single 500ml cans or packs of 4 x 500ml cans.
