EDITED BY : 2MINS READ

In the present day, aluminium is a universally used metal in various industries. The light-weight of the metal, easy way to process and corrosion-resistant is its basic features for abroad acceptance.

The consumption of aluminium has been growing on year on year basis and it is very well facilitated by the development of aluminium production technologies and the expansion of its scope.

Aluminium is one of the amplest elements found in the Earth's crust. Although the world's primary aluminium production has impressive rates, today recycled scrap remains the major source of the total aluminium production. The value of recycled aluminium is much lower than the primary aluminium. Besides, production of secondary aluminium is less energy-intensive and more environmentally friendly.

US export of Aluminium scrap

The US has become the second-largest exporter of scrap aluminium to Thailand in recent times. The total aluminium scrap exported to Thailand during January’19-October’19 stood at 25,100 tonnes.

In 2018 the total export volume to Thailand during January’19-October’19 was recorded at 11,600 tonnes, a rise by 115.51% and by volume the excess amount was 13,400 tonnes.

The US export of aluminium scrap to Thailand in May’19 stood at 2420 tonnes, whereas in June’19 the export accounted for 2930 tonnes.

In July’19 the export was reflected at 4580 tonnes, a rise of 56.31%, whereas in August’19 it was recorded at 3510 tonnes.

Global Aluminium Industry Outlook 2020

The September ’19 showed an upward trend by 4220 tonnes of export, a rise of 20.22%, while in October’19 the export volume showed a slight dip of 3810 tonnes.
