TDK has expanded its aluminium electrolytic capacitor portfolio with new 125 V-rated components and upgraded existing 63 V products to support higher-voltage electric mobility and industrial applications.

The company introduced 125 V versions of its B43693/B43793 axial-lead and soldering star aluminium electrolytic capacitor series, while upgrading the 63 V range of its B41687/B41787 series.

The capacitors are designed for DC-link capacitor banks used in systems operating between 48 V and 120 V, including small electric vehicles, micromobility platforms, forklifts, electric boats and humanoid robots.

The B43693/B43793 series covers voltage ratings from 125 V to 250 V, offers capacitance between 56 µF and 650 µF, and supports ripple currents of up to 21.6 A. The components operate at temperatures of up to 140°C and are rated for a service life of 2,500 hours at ambient temperatures up to 125°C.

According to TDK, the new 125 V variant is intended for 96 V system designs where space is limited, operating temperatures are high and stable energy buffering is required under changing load conditions.

The upgraded B41687/B41787 series is available in voltage ratings from 25 V to 63 V and offers capacitance ranging from 510 µF to 4,800 µF. The series operates at temperatures of up to 150°C and uses the same axial-lead and soldering star design, allowing a common mechanical layout across different voltage classes.

TDK mentioned that supporting higher DC-link voltage in a single capacitor eliminates the need to connect multiple capacitors in series. This simplifies capacitor-bank design while improving system reliability and efficiency by removing the need for voltage-balancing resistors.

The capacitors are rated to withstand vibration levels of up to 20 g as standard, with 60 g versions available on request. Their mounting design allows installation on both printed circuit boards (PCBs) and busbars.

TDK also said mounting the 125 V B43693/B43793 capacitors on a heat sink can more than double their rated ripple current. According to the company, this allows designers to reduce the number of capacitors required in a capacitor bank and lower assembly costs.

AL Circle is coming up with a new Magazine "ALuminium’s Frontline: OEM Edition 2026." Feature your brand and opinion in the edition"

The company added that all four capacitor series feature low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and high ripple current capability, helping reduce power losses and improve thermal performance in inverter DC-link applications.
