Taural India delivers aluminium castings to a domestic shipbuilder

Taural India, one of India’s premier integrated aluminium foundries, has strengthened India's maritime manufacturing base with a significant indigenous defence contract. The company has supplied high-quality aluminium castings to Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd. for propulsion gearboxes as part of the Indigenous Patrol Vessels Programme.

Co-designed by Taural India and Triveni Engineering, the successful delivery of gearboxes marks a milestone in India’s advanced marine manufacturing system. While the collaboration of these two companies reinforces their role as a trusted partner in India’s marine manufacturing ecosystem.

Under the collaboration,Taural India delivered 16 complete sets of aluminium castings in less than five months.The company applied its aluminium sand casting expertise to refine designs and optimise component weight.The castings featured complex internal cavities and met strict strength and performance requirements. Such specifications are vital for marine propulsion systems operating in demanding conditions.

The project demonstrates Taural India's capacity to provide precision-engineered, domestic solutions for the maritime industry, according to Bharat Gite, Managing Director and CEO. He went on to say that the partnership strengthens trust in India's manufacturing sector to generate results that are globally competitive through indigenous engineering brilliance.

Rajiv Rajpal, Chief Executive Officer of the power transmission business at Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd, also echoed Mr Gite’s sentiment iterating India’s overall maritime self-reliance through this project. He also stated that Taural India was chosen because of its track record of producing large, complex components on schedule and its ability to cast aluminium sand with high precision.

Taural India is accredited by  the American Bureau of Shipping, which qualifies the company as a marine component supplier of global standards.
