The applications of aluminium plates, sheets and strips widely range from transformers through plaster strips to silos and heavy good vehicles. Thus, the industries in need of these products include automotive, aerospace, defence and also packaging. Among many countries that ship aluminium plates, sheets and strips to the various parts of the world, Sweden is one European nation that has been logging a steady growth over a past couple of years.
According to the international export-import data, Sweden’s estimated export volume of aluminium plates, sheets and strips were at 72,515 tonnes in 2016, which in the next year, grew to the estimated amount of 78,952 tonnes, up 9 per cent year-on-year. That’s not all, 2018 was also estimated to see a rise further in Sweden’s aluminium plates, sheets and strips export to 82,509 tonnes, 14 per cent higher from 2016 and 4.5 per cent higher from 2017.
In consequence to this year-on-year rise in export volume every year, the aluminium plates, sheets and strips export revenue also grew year-on-year. While in 2016, Sweden’s estimated revenue from the rolled products was at US$180 million, in 2017, the revenue surged to US$204 million, up 13 per cent Y-o-Y. In 2018, the estimated revenue stood further higher at US$ 231 million, up 28 per cent from 2016 and 13 per cent from 2017.
Poland was estimated to be the top importer of aluminium plates, sheets and strips from Sweden in 2018, securing 21,769 tonnes, followed by Germany 11,325 tonnes and Italy 7,129 tonnes. The United Kingdom and the Unites States were also estimated as the major importers among the many other countries.
