SMX files for patent approval in US to carry out systemic marking of aluminium products

SMX (Security Matters) Public Limited Company has filed for patent approval at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This SMX application can inevitably provide transparency and algorithm for some of the biggest industrial consumers of aluminium alloy materials and items.

SMX technology allows material hoarders in the industry to follow a blockchain platform for lifecycle assessment of the materials enhanced through molecular-level marking (U.S. application no. 63/450,826).

The article below tracks SMX’s formulation of a portal for semi-industrialised aluminium alloys:

A flagship Marking System can be incorporated at the melting point for full lifecycle authentication of the source, specific boundaries and grade proportion.

The SMX Marking System permits post-production authentication of material tenacity, enabling the tracking of materials without altering the physical and mechanical aspects of aluminium components.

SMX hardware for non-destructive reading of markings can identify marked aluminium along the manufacturing line, sorting the marked and unmarked aluminium products separately.

The fundamental system was programmed with experts from international automobile organisations and aluminium producers to reach a certain pedestal for legal material sourcing, final product quality, recycling and reuse of it with complete estimations.

The aluminium value chain is flooded with different sustainability challenges, ranging from carbon emissions to waste or scrap generation, from landfill to material downgrading. Since aluminium is among the most readily available materials on the planet, it was quite necessary to chart out a feasible option for branding the type of material available at hand. Moreover, due to the 100% recyclability of aluminium, the non-ferrous metal is being heavily used by major energy-intensive industries. Aluminium can retain its original properties even after going through recycling processes and thus is essential for a circular economy. The SMX system allows the complete verification of aluminium products alongside keeping track of the production and reuse ratio.

If the SMX patent is approved, there will be an integrated system to account for all the aluminium in the industrial loop. Once the SMX platform is ready, it will heavily influence the transportation, manufacturing, electrical and construction sectors.

SMX technologies also provide a lenient, industry-oriented solution for pointing out the amount of recycled aluminium present in a finished product to keep track of the number of times the material is being reused.
