Shanghai Huafon Aluminium Corporation has acquired ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certification for its manufacturing processes, which include casting, hot rolling, cold rolling, slitting, and stamping, at its Jinshan District production site in Shanghai, China. The firm produces 175,000 tonnes of rolled aluminium products annually, utilised in automotive, engineering equipment, power plants, air conditioning, and battery housing industries.

Shanghai Kylin Certification Service Co., Ltd. conducted the independent, third-party audit of Shanghai Huafon Aluminium Corporation. The audit occurred before May 31, 2023, allowing for Performance Standard V2 certification. The ASI Certification programme, established after intensive multi-stakeholder input, is the first complete voluntary sustainability standard project for the aluminium value chain.
“We congratulate Shanghai Huafon Aluminium Corporation on achieving Performance Standard Certification. The company’s Certification demonstrates that it is committed to implementing responsible production practices and addressing key environmental, social and governance issues in the aluminium value chain,” said Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI.
The ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) establishes environmental, social, and governance principles and standards to address sustainability challenges across the aluminium value chain. It creates 59 criteria within the three sustainability pillars of Environment, Social, and Governance, addressing critical concerns such as biodiversity, labour rights, Indigenous Peoples' rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.
“We are driven by technology, producing aluminium materials with a focus on improving our environmental impact. As a leading manufacturer of aluminium products for the auto industry, Huafon Aluminium is focused on low-carbon, innovative production, following green manufacturing principles throughout the production process to reduce our carbon footprint. By continuously improving our manufacturing capabilities, Huafon aims to achieve carbon reduction across our chain of production. We strive to make a positive contribution to the sustainable development of the global aluminium industry,” added Yongjin Gao, General Manager of Shanghai Huafon Aluminium Corporation.
