Vinícola Santa Julia, based in Argentina, has teamed up with the fast-food giant McDonald's to introduce an innovative wine offering in aluminium cans across the country, riding the wave of the beverage market's growing trends.
This new offering will be featured as an exclusive combo, a collaboration celebrating La Fiesta de la Vendimia — the Harvest Festival — which kicked off in early March in Mendoza. As part of the promotion named Sabores Mendoncinos, the combo will showcase the Tomatimac sandwich, inspired by the Argentine tomato-based recipe, tomaticán cuyano, along with a 269 ml can of Syrah Rosé wine. This amount roughly equals two glasses of wine.
Canned wine has been gaining worldwide attention not only for its sustainability, thanks to aluminium's infinitely recyclable nature, but also for its practicality during transportation, durability against drops, and ability to shield the beverage from harmful UV rays. The Syrah Rosé wine can was a joint creation by Ball Corporation in partnership with Vinícola Santa Julia.
Aluminium beverage cans have been at the forefront of realising metal's complete recycling potential worldwide. Apart from packing carbonated soft drinks and beer, aluminium cans are now used for various other beverages, including water and hard seltzers. Globally, beer and soda consume around 180 billion aluminium cans per annum.
