Remi Claeys Aluminium NV has become a new Industrial User member of Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), boosting the total number of ASI members to 200.

Sustainability is the greatest challenge of modern manufacturing and in order to achieve the low-carbon world dream, a change in economy is must.
Aluminium is an important component of the circular economy. Materials that recycle indefinitely contribute to a long-term future. About 5 percent of the energy needed to create primary aluminium is utilised to recycle aluminium scrap. Through our remelt plant, where we sift and remelt discarded and scrapped aluminium, we hope to contribute to a more circular economy. More than 95 percent of the aluminium used at Remi Claeys Aluminium Lichtervelde is recycled material melted in our own remelting facility.

“Remi Claeys Aluminium has a strong focus on good governance and creating a sustainable environment. For that reason we are joining ASI and commit ourselves to work hard in order to receive the certifications for both the Performance Standard and the Chain of Custody. This would show that we are committed to our focus points and that we are able to walk the talk,” said, Filip Vinke, the Managing Director of Remi Claeys Aluminium.
