PyroGenesis Canada Inc. joined Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), as the new General Supporter member. With this, the total number of members at ASI comes to 199.

PyroGenesis Canada Inc. is a high-tech firm that develops, manufactures, and sells sophisticated plasma systems and sustainable solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste streams. Aluminum is seen as the "green" metal of the future, a designation that will remain contested until the emissions and hazardous waste problems linked with it are resolved.
PyroGenesis is working on a variety of applications with that goal in mind, including salt-free aluminium recovery from dross (using its patented DROSRITETM process), re-purposing of dross residues (post metal recovery), treatment of spent pot lining (SPL), and electrification of industry through the use of plasma torches to replace fossil-fuel burners.
“We believe we should help the aluminum industry and producers of the green metal address their environmental concerns by making sustainability sustainable…in other words by proposing environmental solutions that are cheaper than the legacy technologies they are using. We are proud to become members of the ASI, sharing and promoting these core values of sustainability while at the same time helping businesses compete,” said Photis Peter Pascali, President & CEO of PyroGenesis Canada Inc.
