The aluminium industry has sought the government to lower the basic customs duty on critical raw materials like aluminium fluoride, making a statement that high import duties are a huge drawback as they make Indian finished goods overpriced and uncompetitive in the international markets. Africa’s primary aluminium production amounted to 133,000 tonnes in November 2019, representing a decrease of 2.92% from 137,000 tonnes in November 2018, according to the International Aluminium Institute (IAI).
