The Indian heavy engineering company, ISGEC has successfully commissioned a combustion modified 150 MW boiler for Hindalco’s Aditya Aluminium unit in Sambalpur, Odisha. The project incorporated the entire modification of the combustion system of a digressive fired boiler to drastically reduce Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions in line with the revised and more stringent norms issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change. With effect from Wednesday, 14 October 2020, the prices of some aluminium ingots are in the range of INR 153,500-166,500 per tonne. China’s primary aluminium production continued to grow by 7.68 per cent year-on-year in September 2020 to stand at 3.11 million tonnes, found the Shanghai Metals Market survey. But when compared to the month earlier, the output of September stood down by 2.51 per cent from 3.19 million tonnes. As of the end of September, China's primary aluminium capacity in operation was 38.16 million tonnes among the existing capacity of 43.28 million tonnes. The production capacity in operation was up by 15.05 per cent month-on-month from 37.62 million tonnes, while operating rates were down from 88.6 per cent to 88.2 per cent. As part of its environmental modernization program by 2024, RUSAL, the leader of global aluminium industry plans to entirely switch the reduction area of the Krasnoyarsk aluminium smelter (KrAZ) to a new type of raw material, an eco-friendly pitch. Alcoa announced it will curtail its San Ciprián aluminum smelter in Spain. The company will also initiate a collective dismissal that will impact about 530 employees.
