Unveiling EcoGeneration 2024: A journey of discovery and environmental commitment

RUSAL, one of the world's largest aluminium producers, has announced the commencement of the EcoGeneration 2024 project, an initiative aimed at fostering environmental awareness and stewardship among the youth. Set against the backdrop of Russia's diverse landscapes, this year's EcoGeneration promises to be a captivating journey of exploration and learning.

The initiative, targeted at high school students with a keen interest in ecology, biology, and local history, invites participants from selected regions across Russia. Eligible students must hail from cities where RUSAL maintains operations, including but not limited to Irkutsk, Saint Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Volgograd and many others. In collaboration with local educational departments and affiliated schools, RUSAL has launched a quiz as the initial phase of the selection process.

The quiz serves as a gateway to the summer eco-industrial expeditions, which are slated to take place in August of this year. Participants are required to engage in video lectures covering topics ranging from protected areas to the history of scientific research aimed at conserving endangered species. Additionally, questions pertaining to RUSAL's environmental initiatives and the aluminium industry are included to test the candidates' comprehension and knowledge. A compelling short essay elucidating the motivation behind their desire to partake in the expedition completes the application process.

The expeditions themselves are set to unfold in two distinct yet equally captivating locales: the "Krasnoyarsk Stolby" National Park in Siberia and the Kandalaksha State Nature Reserve in the northwestern part of Russia. These specially protected natural areas offer a rich tapestry of biodiversity and ecological significance, providing an ideal backdrop for hands-on learning and exploration.

Participants can anticipate a multifaceted experience encompassing volunteer work, interactions with scientific experts, and guided excursions to notable natural sites. Moreover, visits to RUSAL facilities are incorporated into the itinerary, offering students insights into the company's efforts to mitigate its environmental impact and promote sustainability. Notably, discussions at the Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Plant are slated to shed light on forthcoming transformations within the facility, underscoring RUSAL's commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
