Every Can Counts (ECC) has unveiled a giant art installation outside Trafford Centre to highlight the importance of recycling during Recycle Week 2026 (14th – 20th September). The Infinity Sculpture, made from more than 1,200 recycled drink cans, has been created to illustrate the life cycle of a drink can, highlighting that aluminium can be recycled time and time again. Shoppers and centre visitors can get a glimpse of the can-based artwork that will be on display by the Great Hall Entrance at Trafford Centre until Sunday 20th September to mark the occasion. Macquarie Asset Management has signed an agreement with Hydro relating to the future acquisition of 49.9 per cent of Hydro’s renewable energy company Hydro Rein. Through the agreement, Hydro and Macquarie Asset Management will form a joint venture (JV) where Hydro will own the remaining 50.1 per cent of the company. Aluminium packaging recycling soars in Q2, but PRN prices remain high
According to recent data published on the National Packaging Waste Database (NPWD) by the Environment Agency (EA), aluminium packaging recycling volumes rocketed in Q2. Showing an impressive uplift compared to the same period in 2022, this puts the industry firmly on track to once again exceed annual recycling targets. In Q2 2023, 38,829 tonnes of aluminium packaging were collected for recycling – a 5 per cent increase year-on-year. Of this volume, 26,749 tonnes were recycled through kerbside, bring and on-the-go systems (69 per cent of total volume, +5 per cent YOY), while 11,791 were recovered from incinerator bottom ash (IBA), with tonnages up +5 per cent compared to 2022.
