
Poland increased its aluminium scrap imports by 15 per cent in 2018 compared to 2017. The country is estimated to witness a decline in imports of aluminium scrap this year. Germany remained the top aluminium scrap supplier to Poland.

{alcircleadd}Poland’s estimated aluminium scrap import from Germany was at 149419 tonnes in 2018, compared to 132180 tonnes in 2017. The data shows an increase of 17239 tonnes, or 13 per cent, year-on-year.
Other top countries which supplied aluminium scraps to the country in 2018 were Netherlands (26683 tonnes), Czech Republic (13829 tonnes), Belgium (11097 tonnes) and Lithuania (12040 tonnes) among others (estimated).

The above graph shows that Poland imported an estimated 267299 tonnes of aluminium scrap in 2018, an increase of 34041 tonnes, or 15 per cent, from 233258 tonnes in 2017. In 2018, estimated import value stood at USD 278 million. Poland’s total import value of aluminium scrap was estimated at USD 250 million in 2017.

In 2019, the country’s aluminium scrap import is projected to reach 231356 tonnes, down 13 per cent year on year. The cost of import is estimated to be USD 248 million.
