The £110 million structure that Peel Media is proposing to construct is the first major project since Landsec paid £426 million last year to purchase a 75 per cent interest in the Salford Quays property. The 350,000 square foot office, designed by Sheppard Robson which will be constructed at the MediaCity, will feature aluminium panelling on the outside, green balconies and an outdoor patio on every other level of the façade. The main reason behind choosing aluminium was that it would consume less carbon throughout the design and building phases.

Since it is lightweight and resistant to corrosion, aluminium is frequently utilised in construction. Aluminium is utilised in many different applications, including exterior facades, roofs and walls, windows and doors, stairways, railings, and shelves. A benefit of aluminium is that it is extremely formable. Aluminium is simple to work with and can be moulded into almost any shape imaginable. Because of this, it is very sought-after for architectural buildings. Aluminium alloys allow engineers to save time and money since they are so easy to work with.

The updated plans will take precedence over the older ones and will also feature a 283-capacity bike hub on the ground floor in addition to 15,000 square feet of leisure and independent shop space. Work might begin on the site in the summer of 2023, pending planning permission.
“These revised plans will bring a striking, new and sustainable buildings to MediaCity, which will be one of the largest grade A office buildings in Manchester. A considerable area within the development will cater for SMEs within our flexible workspace offer Arrive as well as larger office floor plates for businesses with a greater space requirement. Its design, spec and feel will very much reflect the innovative and cutting-edge immersive industries we will be targeting as we move into the next phase of MediaCity’s evolution,” said Stephen Wild, managing director at MediaCity.
