Nissan Casting Australia to produce die-cast aluminium parts for the new Nissan LEAF

Nissan Casting Australia (NCA) will produce die cast aluminium parts for the new Nissan LEAF, the next evolution of its zero-emission electric vehicle. Dandenong South in Victoria secured the contract because cheaper countries could struggle with the highly technical nature of the items, reported by GoAutoNews reported.

The two key die cast aluminium parts will be supplied to Japan.  The 200-strong workforce at the Nissan Casting Plant produces high-pressure die-cast aluminium final drive components, and oil pan engine and manual transmission parts, which are all exported globally, according to the company.

“The Dandenong manufacturing plant produces over 2.5 million die-cast aluminium parts and 16,000 tow bars yearly, with an approximate export sales value of over $82 million annually,” said Nissan Casting Plant Managing Director Peter Jones.
