The Office of the Governor, along with the Bureau of Environmental & Coastal Quality, Office of Planning and Development, Zero Waste Task Force, and the Department of Public Works, has introduced a new recycling initiative that enables locals to recycle their aluminium cans in exchange for money as part of the administration's efforts to promote sustainability and economic stewardship in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).
The Recycling Redemption Initiative pays a five-cent incentive for every aluminium can collected. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm, Saipanese can swap their aluminium cans at the Artman Corp. Drop-Off Center on Chalan Sisonyan Road in Tanapag.
The people of Tinian and Rota will soon be included in this project, but not since logistics and planning are still being finalised. The programme's availability will be announced to the people of Tinian and Rota.
