NALCO sets up second wind power plant in Rajasthan

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has commissioned its second wind power project at Ludarva in the district of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. The power plant boosts 47.6 MW capacity.

The wind power project worth Rs 283 crore was executed through M/s Gamesa Wind Turbines Private Limited, according to an official release. The turbine company has involved themselves in the erection of 56 wind turbines, each having a 850 KW rating.

In the first phase of set up, the company had 36 turbines erected. The company has successfully commissioned remaining 20 turbines in the second phase. Earlier, the company had set up their first wind power plant in December 2012 at Gandikota in the district of Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh having a capacity of 50.4 MW worth Rs 274 crore.

The company is even planning to set up their third wind power plant at Panchpatmali Bauxite deposit in Koraput in Odisha.
