
Mediacorp Canada Inc., the nation's largest publisher of quality employment periodicals, reaching over 15 million Canadians each year has published ranking in the Globe and Mail on 13th November’20, where Rio Tinto was selected among the top 100 employers in the country.

The publisher’s editors use eight indicators to complete their list: physical workplace, work atmosphere and social activities, health, financial and family benefits; vacation and leave; communication with employees; performance management, training and skills development, and community participation.
Rio Tinto, which runs its operations with more than 10,500 employees in Canada, including more than 4,000 in Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean, has stood out in several spheres. In particular, it provides $ 10 million per year to support initiatives related to First Nations, education, health and well-being, poverty reduction, the environment and communities through the Rio Tinto Aluminum Canada Fund. Additional financial contributions of US $ 10 million were also made across North America in 2020, in addition to in-kind donations including personal protective equipment to support local initiatives aimed at mitigating the impacts of the pandemic on communities and to stimulate economic recovery.
Furthermore, the mining and metal giant supports its employees who are new mothers by paying them an additional salary for their maternity leave of up to 100% of salary for 18 weeks. The company also offers a salary supplement for adoptive parents (up to 100% of salary for 18 weeks). Rio Tinto also grants three weeks of paid leave to its new employees and takes into account previous professional experience to determine vacation rights for experienced candidates.
Rio Tinto Aluminium's management team has also reached uniformity, and the company aims to increase the number of women in senior management positions by 2% per year and have 50% of graduates hired are women.
