Malcolm McKeon unveils new 51m aluminium sailing yacht concept

Superyacht designer Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design has taken the wraps off their latest sailing yacht concept constructed from aluminium: Project MM51. The sloop measuring 51 metres highlights comfortable, fast and safe cruising, an outcome that can be expected only out of a vessel made from a lightweight material such as aluminium.

Project MM51 features five well-equipped cabins- all spacious, well-ventilated, and let in abundant natural light, which gives the entire aluminium yacht an added feel of welcoming lightness. There is this main saloon with a sleek glass canopy that creates an airy feel while controlling excess heat absorption with reflective glass interlayers and heat reflective pigments. On board, the sloop can accommodate maximum 10 guests.

The glass flows out to the cockpit providing a seamless continuation to the exterior space. The saloon and cockpit, though on the same level, are separated by sliding doors made from glass. So, Project MM51 is essentially a one-off synchronization of aluminium and glass panels, used optimally to enhance the overall aesthetic value of the vessel while keeping its weight minimal and performance at par with the best in the market.

{googleAdsense}

The lifting keel of the aluminium yacht will offer a draft from 4.75 to 7.2 metres and above the water her sloop rig stands at 68.5 metres with the sail configuration featuring a square-top mainsail.

Malcolm McKeon has developed Project MM51 quite extensively and will soon sign up with a shipyard, reported sources close to the studio. With an order placed before the end of 2016, the vessel could be delivered by winter 2018, the studio stated.
