Premium malt makers are making a swift shift from conventional glass bottle packaging to trendier and sustainable metal packaging, to be more specific, to aluminium packaging. Wood's High Mountain Distillery in Salida, Colorado, recently announced that from now its Tenderfoot Whiskey will be available in a resalable 750-ml aluminium bottle. Named as "Backcountry Bottle", the brand new aluminium packaging offers a convenient yet suave packaging alternative to traditional glass for use in places where a glass bottle is not always practical or prohibited totally such as camping and other adventure trips amid nature.
The "Backcountry Bottle" crafted from aluminium is lighter than glass, portable, and does not break when impacted, that is, it is reasonably durable which means it can be carried easily on adventure trips. The packaging is designed essentially for consumers who prefer carrying their premium small-batch whiskey with them when out for their adventure activities.

PT Wood, co-owner and head distiller at Wood's High Mountain Distillery said "After years of taking glass bottles on numerous rafting and backcountry ski trips we've been looking for a lighter, non-glass alternative for spirits. When the opportunity to package our spirits in aluminium bottles became available we had to jump on it and we're thrilled to have it available to our customers."

Aluminium packaging offers significant environmental benefits over glass for being lighter and 100 per cent recyclable. Wood's High Mountain Distillery use recycled aluminium to make the "Backcountry Bottles", which makes these products even more premium.
The malt maker is based in Salida, Colorado and its products are currently distributed in Colorado, New Jersey and Italy.
