The London Metal Exchange (LME) aluminium prices moved higher on the May 26 session compared to May 22 after the market remained closed on May 25 due to a holiday. Cash prices, 3-month contracts and longer-dated contracts all recorded gains during the session, while aluminium stocks largely remained unchanged.
{alcircleadd}The LME aluminium cash bid price increased 1.42 per cent from USD 3,705.5 per tonne on May 22 to USD 3,758 per tonne on May 26. The cash offer price also rose 1.43 per cent from USD 3,706 per tonne to USD 3,759 per tonne.
On May 26, the LME aluminium 3-month bid price stood at USD 3,680 per tonne, rising 1.06 per cent from USD 3,641.5 per tonne recorded on May 22. The 3-month offer price increased 1.10 per cent from USD 3,642 per tonne to USD 3,682 per tonne.

Unlike the moderate gains seen in the cash and 3-month contracts, the longer-dated Dec-27 contracts also moved upward during the session. The Dec-27 bid price climbed 0.59 per cent from USD 3,233 per tonne on May 22 to USD 3,252 per tonne on May 26. Similarly, the Dec-27 offer price edged up 0.59 per cent from USD 3,238 per tonne to USD 3,257 per tonne.
The LME aluminium 3-month closing reference price also recorded an increase. The price rose from USD 3,672.50 per tonne on May 22 to USD 3,716.80 per tonne on May 26, reflecting a gain of 1.21 per cent.
LME aluminium opening stocks remained unchanged at 339,475 tonnes on May 26 compared to May 22.
Live warrants also remained flat at 263,900 tonnes during the session. Cancelled warrants, however, slipped marginally by 0.17 per cent from 75,575 tonnes on May 22 to 75,450 tonnes on May 26.
LME alumina Platts prices showed no movement and remained unchanged at USD 307.67 per tonne on May 26.
