LME aluminium price surges by US$52/t to stand at US$2677/t; SHFE price exceeds US$3000/t

LME aluminium opened at US$2,612 per tonne last night and closed at US$2,662.50 per tonne, up 1.8 per cent.

On Monday, December 13, LME aluminium cash (bid) price surged by US$51 per tonne or 1.94 per cent to stand at US$2,675 per tonne, while LME aluminium official settlement price came in at US$2,677 per tonne by climbing US$52 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price built-up by US$33.50 per tonne and US$32 per tonne to settle at US$2,650.50 per tonne and US$2,651 per tonne, respectively. December 22 bid price and December 22 offer price closed higher at US$2,643 per tonne and US$2,648 per tonne.

LME aluminium opening stock decreased to 909650 tonnes. Live warrants increased to 742325 tonnes but Cancelled Warrants declined to 167325 tonnes.

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price closed at US$2,649.42 per tonne.

SHFE Aluminium Price Trend

On Tuesday, December 14, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE also hiked by US$63 per tonne to exceed US$3,000 per tonne. The price is standing at US$3,005 per tonne.

The most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium contract opened at RMB 19,200 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 19,300 per tonne and RMB 19,185 per tonne before closing at RMB 19,275 per tonne, up RMB 380 per tonne or 2.01 per cent.
