LME aluminium price surges by US$115/t to close at US$2,811/t; SHFE price went up by US$65/t

LME aluminium opened at US$2,760 per tonne on Wednesday and closed at US$2,822 per tonne, an increase of US$53.5 per tonne or 1.93 percent.

On Wednesday, December 22, LME aluminium cash (bid) price surged by US$115.5 per tonne or by 4.28 percent to clock at US$2,810.50 per tonne. LME aluminium official settlement price escalated by US$115 per tonne or by 4.26 percent to stand at US$2,811 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price for the same day stood at US$2,828 per tonne and US$2,829 per tonne. December 22 bid price and December 22 offer price registered at US$2,798 per tonne and US$2,803 per tonne.

LME aluminium opening stock was recorded at 970425 tonnes. Live warrants and Cancelled warrants totalled at 754300 tonnes and 216125 tonnes.

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price closed at US$2,793.32 per tonne.

SHFE Aluminium Price Trend

On Thursday, December 23, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE increased by US$65 per tonne to stand at US$3,166 per tonne.

The most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium closed up 2.56 percent or RMB 500 per tonne to RMB 20045 per tonne, with open interest down 4063 lots to 111678 lots.

The most-traded SHFE 2202 aluminium contract opened at RMB 20,300 per tonne overnight, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 20,390 per tonne and RMB 20,195 per tonne before closing at RMB 20,245 per tonne, up RMB 375 per tonne or 1.89 percent.
